Both the inner and outer courtyard of the complex will hence be handed over to the Trust for the construction of the Temple, the Prime Minister said. The UP government has been asked to allot 5-acre of land to the Sunni Central Waqf Board in Ayodhya – implying that a proposed mosque will come up outside the 67.7-acre acquired completed.
The independent Trust will be named ‘Sri Ramjanambhoomi Tirath Shetra’, Mod announced in Parliament. The Trust will be independent to take decisions regarding the construction of the Temple, the PM said. The Supreme Court in an order on November 9 last year had asked the government to set up a Trust within three months and also allot five acres for building a mosque.
For the government to take was whether the five-acre land for the mosque should be given by it out of the 67-acre acquired land or elsewhere in Ayodhya city by the UP government – the two options given in the Supreme Court judgement. PM Modi said in Parliament that given the number of pilgrims expected at the temple complex and facilities required for the same, the entire 67.7 acre complex will be handed over to the Trust for the construction of the Temple.
